Classical Pilates Teacher Training: Fundamentals to Intermediate Level III

450 hrs. | 6-month course

Audit Available for Certified Teachers! (16 NPCP - CEC’s / Weekend)

The STTP program goes beyond the Classical Pilates repertoire to include influences from multiple lineages as well as both functional and contemporary exercises.

Emphasis will be placed upon learning to teach Pilates at a very sophisticated level to individual bodies, and the training imparts functional protocols for all common client pathologies. STTP achieves this level of expertise for their graduates by going beyond the exercise list to include anatomy and kinesiology, client assessment skills, and teaching techniques throughout the learning process.

Pre-requisites for completion, small class sizes, and one-on-one coaching support the high standard we intend to achieve for all STTP teachers. At the program’s end, graduates proficiently teach well-designed private lessons, mat classes, and small group equipment classes.

At the program’s end, graduates proficiently teach well-designed private lessons, mat classes, and small group equipment classes. Successful completion of comprehensive written, teaching and performance exams will be required for graduation. Additionally, students qualify and are prepared to take the certification exam given by The National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) should they so choose. Please note for certified instructors, audit is available for 16 NPCP-CECs per weekend!

  • ● Pilates Appreciation: The History and The Philosophy of Mr. Joseph H. Pilates

    ● The Foundational Exercises & Baseline Skills of the Earliest Taught Pilates Exercises

    ● Learn to Recognize Themes to the Movement Skills Needed for Success in an Introductory Level Pilates practice

    ● Teach the Classical Pilates Exercises (Introductory Level, Mat and All Apparatus)

Sound knowledge of the history of Pilates and of our personal lineage all the way back to Mr. Pilates provides context and relevance to us teaching this exercise system in the current day. Additionally, the principles of Classical Pilates provide us the treasure map. We explore the six guiding principles and the movement skills suggested by the principles, so we can pass on this enthusiasm and success in our teaching and to our client population. This is the first in a series of four workshops that can be taken individually or out of order.

  • ● "Layering and Leveling": Teaching Concepts and Tools for Structuring a Lesson

    ● Setting Up for Success: Ways to Begin a Session

    ● Teaching to the Individual: Evaluate the Best Approach

    ● Foundational Anatomy & Kinesiology for Pilates

    ● Level I Classical Pilates Repertoire (Mat and All Equipment). Coaching and achieving Uniform Development

The marquee benefit of Pilates can be thought of as building a house, with a sound foundation and new layers of structures and different levels. This weekend we delve into seeing our clients move, evaluating their needs moving forward, refining movement skills and techniques, and choosing our methods and materials for building a sound structure. This is the second in a series of four workshops that can be taken individually or out of order.

  • ● The Learning Types: How They Influence Your Students and Your Own Teaching

    ● Emphasis on Imagery and Verbal Cueing

    ● Effective Hands-On Teaching: Partnering, Spotting and Assisting

    ● Level II Classical Pilates Exercises (Mat and All Apparatus)

Introducing different ways a human learns, hearing, seeing and feeling, we play with different effective ways to cue our clients. Our main interest with verbal, visual, and kinesthetic cues is to support and challenge our clients as they make progress and enjoy more of the benefits of Pilates. Through this play we also stretch our capacities as teachers. We continue to look for common skills in the material and expand our knowledge of the anatomy and kinesiology of Pilates exercises. This is the third in a series of four workshops that can be taken individually or out of order.

  • ● Apex Teaching: Learn to Build a Lesson using the Building Blocks of the Lower Level Skills to the Intermediate Repertoire

    ● Play with Creative Solutions to Progressing a Client

Meet The Founders

Eva Kauffman & Lise Fischer, Streamline Pilates (Salt Lake City, UT)

The nationally known Streamline Teacher Training Program (STTP) of Salt Lake City, Utah has been successfully sharing the knowledge and inspiration of the Pilates Method for more than 10 years. Eva and Lise have helmed the Salt Lake City studio Streamline Pilates for 20 years. Both are graduates of the prestigious Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, widely known as the “Harvard” of Pilates training institutions. Both went on to complete the Masters Program: Kathy Grant Heritage Training under the direct mentorship of Master Instructor Cara Reeser. Each year they study ardently with Master Teachers of all Pilates lineages and eagerly look forward to passing along their experiences to their trainees.

Meet Your Teachers

Streamline Master Teachers: Alison Page, NCPT (AJ Pilates, CEO) and Emily Tincher (AJ Pilates, Studio Manager)

Alison is the Founding CEO of Aero Joe Pilates. She received a mat certification in 2003, and graduated from a comprehensive teacher training apprenticeship (NY Pilates, NYC) in the Classical lineage of Romana Kryzanowska. Alison went on to complete Cara Reeser’s Masters Program: Heritage Training in the lineage of Pilates Elder Kathy Grant. Emily Tincher is a graduate of the prestigious Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado. Alison and Emily served as Host Advisors for the 2020 Streamline Teacher Training program @ Aero Joe Pilates, and were promoted to Streamline Master Teachers in 2022. The pair are the founding CEO’s of Pure Movement Education, LLC, with a mission of democratizing access to networking, education (CEC’s) & career growth pathways for Pilates teachers. Both are impassioned to create pathways for students to experience the benefits of the complete Pilates system, and seek to play a role, however small, to preserve and promote Pilates’ lineage instruction for future generations.

  • Classically Based with Contemporary & Multi-Lineage Influences

The STTP comprehensive training program uniquely encompasses the basic to advanced levels on all of the equipment. The training is Classically based, and yet this always evolving program combines what we consider to be the best of all Pilates lineages, deriving directly from the students of the founder of the method Joseph Pilates. The program notably includes exercises developed by Elder Kathy Grant with direct permission from Master Instructor Cara Reeser. Contemporary and functional exercises are also touched upon.

    Fully Comprehensive

The material is authentically crafted from experience to incorporate a modern approach to learning in a non-formulaic program which emphasizes all of the following: mindfulness, a foundational knowledge of biomechanics and teaching to the individual. With this proven, successful program you will minimize “gaps” in your education post-graduation. Educating from the ground up, we get down and dirty - - deep into the trenches of lineage based Pilates education on every apparatus, ensuring trainees are fully capable of stepping into the role of instructor more confidently from day one.

    Achieve an Expert-Level of Understanding

Rather than simply learning a list of exercises, you will experience the extraordinary difference in your teaching when emphasis is placed upon developing real and artful expertise. You will learn foundational movement science to address multiple common client pathologies and an abundance of creative techniques from proven, time-tested methodologies. STTP graduates see and teach to the individual because “no one size fits all.” By learning to address the “whole person” successfully, graduates achieve the complete Pilates benefits for students. Weekends are open to audit by certified instructors who wish for a more fulfilling teaching experience.

    Small Group Learning Environment

Our classes are small and intimate. This enables substantial personal mentoring and coaching. We pride ourselves on fostering a personal, individualized and highly interactive setting for learning. Through supportive, personalized coaching STTP develops teachers who are sophisticated, creative and artful in their teaching.

    The Program is LIVE

STTP learning happens through in-person mentorship. There are no videos or lectures online. Program hours in mentorship include lecture and lab hours, observation, practice teaching, lessons, workouts and testing over the course of 6 months (intermediate) to 12 months (advanced). All activities will take place at host studio Aero Joe Pilates in Birmingham, AL. Another plus… For those locals, you will not need to fly out-of-state to receive some of the best Classically-based training in the country!

Attend as a Program Trainee or Audit for Continuing Education

STTP is open to anyone meeting the pre-requisites. Passionate intermediate level students simply wishing to deepen their practice are welcome to apply. Those that are serious about teaching that complete the STTP program will automatically be considered to join the Aero Joe Pilates team, pending openings available upon graduation. Auditing part or all of the training is an option for those teachers who are already certified, but are seeking a deeper, more fulfilling teaching experience.

    Start with Strong Foundations

Learning to practice and learning to to teach the method are two different skill sets, and both require separate time and attention for true success in this career path. Our pre-requisites give all STTP trainees a comm
