Alison Page, PMA-CPT

Alison is a 2017 Heritage Training® graduate under the direct mentorship of Master Instructor Cara Reeser in the lineage of Pilates Elder Kathy Grant which greatly expanded her understanding and reverence for the method. She is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified instructor with over a decade of teaching experience garnered in both Alabama, Louisiana and New York. She was first certified by Physical Mind Institute in 2003 in Covington, LA. In 2005, she continued her education in a comprehensive apprenticeship at NY PILATES in Manhattan under the tutelage of Justine DiCostanza as a third generation Classical instructor in the lineage of Elder Romana Kryzanowska.

Alison’s continuing education includes training with Anantomy Trains Inc.; Elders: Ron Fletcher and Mary Bowen; and Master Instructors: Cara Reeser, Debora Kolway, Michele Larsson, Mejo Wiggin, Amy Alpers, and Amy Lange. Though she has worked with celebrities and athletes over the years, her proudest accomplishment is in providing the healing corrective benefits of Pilates to those in chronic pain. She specializes in instruction for arthritis, hip & knee replacements, spinal fusions, rehabilitation for professional dancers and more.

Alison’s education in dance and study of kinesiology for dancers greatly influences her teaching philosophy. She is a graduate of The Alabama School of Fine Arts in Dance, and received her BFA (with Honors) in Dance from the University of Arizona. She later graduated with an MA degree in Arts Education (Dance/Theatre Emphasis) from New York University. While in New York, she worked as an assistant to the Dance Supervisor of Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway. Longing for her southern roots, she moved to Birmingham with husband David Page, and founded professional, non-profit 501(c)3 company AROVA Contemporary Ballet of Birmingham, AL in 2006, serving as Founding Artistic Director until 2014.

Though Aero Joe was always imagined primarily as a sanctuary for Pilates, Alison attended Aircat Aerial Yoga’s teacher training in Boulder, CO in 2013 upon seeing the opportunity to teach the first Aerial Yoga group classes in all of Alabama. Around that same time, Alison's proudest professional accomplishment became establishing Aero Joe Pilates in Birmingham's Pepper Place in 2012-2013.

Alison juggles a rigorous schedule at the studio around spending quality time with her little boy Jackson.  When she can, she enjoys traveling the country to learn from Master Instructors and those close to the lineage of Joe and Clara Pilates.  Though her first love of movement derived from ballet, she now knows her true calling is to play a role, however small, in preserving lineage Pilates for future generations, and hopes her career may one day be of meaningful service to the legacies of Elder Kathleen Stanford Grant and Master Instructor Cara Reeser with whom she seeks to honor in her teaching every day.
