About Featured Guest Instructor: ANULA MAIBERG
Anula Maiberg, co-owner of Sixth Street Pilates, was born in Israel and moved to NYC in 2001 in order to pursue a career in photography. While working on her degree at the School of Visual Arts she fell in love with Pilates. After college and a few years at a 'desk' job she realized happiness wasn't in front of the computer screen. In 2010 Anula decided to attended the Kane School for Core Integration and was fully certified by Kelly Kane. In 2014 she graduated the Kathy Grant Heritage Training® led by Cara Reeser of Pilates Aligned in Denver which has been a journey that has led her to a deeper understanding of the Method.

Where should I be feeling this? What's wrong with that question? Why is it ok to politely decline to answer? Pilates is a practice, a lifestyle and a method of movement. We are not healers, doctors or therapists. We teach Pilates and that is more than enough.
Do we "owe" our students a "burn"? Does "not feeling" it mean a movement has no value? Is it within our scope of practice to tailor a session to our student's individual nervous systems? Are our student's feelings or lack of feeling or feeling in the "wrong" places facts?
Can we help our students find a better more useful vocabulary for sensation, pain, muscle activation and harm.
Why is one muscle better than another? Lower back sensation is bad. Abdominal sensation is good. Neck sensation is bad. Tricep sensation is good. These are value judgments. What are they based on and how can we guide a session with less sensation based judgments?
